Moong Dal (Green Gram)

  • Information -> A Nutritious pulse used in dals , soups , and sprouts. Available in whole , split and skinned ( yellow moong dal ) forms.
  • Production Season -> Can be grown in Kharif ( June- July ) and Rabi  ( Oct.-Nov. ) seasons.
  • Importance -> Commonly used in Indian dal , soups and Khichdi. Easily digestible and rich in protein . Used in healthy diets and weight loss meals.

Corn flakes

  • Information -> Corn flakes are made from maize (corn). A popular breakfast cereal.                        
  • Production season -> Corn is mainly grown in the Kharif season ( june – September ) and Rabi season ( October – February).         
  • Importance ->  A light and easy – to – digest breakfast option. A good source of iron and vitamins.

Maize Flour

  • Information -> Made by grinding maize ( corn ). Used to prepare maize roti, bakery products , and various dishes.
  • Production Season -> Grown in both kharif and Rabi seasons. Major production states MP , Karnataka , Bihar , Rajasthan , UP. 
  • Importance -> A high-energy food . Good for digestion and gut health.

Cattle Feed Poha

  1. Information -> Cattle feed poha is made from broken rice or maize, specially processed for livestock consumption. It is light , easy to digest , and making it an ideal feed for dairy and farm animals .
  2. Production season -> Rice-Based poha —- after paddy harvesting(October to December ) Maize-based poha —– Available throughout the year as maize is grown in both Kharif ( june-sept) and Rabi (oct-feb) seasons. 
  3. Importance -> Provides high-energy nutrition to livestock. Helps in better weight gain and overall health of cattle.

Chickpeas (Chana)

  • Information -> Chickpeas are a protein-rich pulse used in various Indian dishes like chana masala.
  • Production Season -> mainly a rabi crop grown in Oct.- Nov. and harvested in March- April. 
  • Importance -> High in protein , fiber , and essential vitamins . Helps in muscle building and digestion .

Chana Dal ( split Bengal gram )

  • Information -> Made from split and polished chickpeas. Used in dal recipes, snacks and flour production (besan).
  • Production Season -> It is a Rabi crop, sown in oct. – nov. and harvested in march – april.
  • Importance -> High in protein and fiber . Used in making dal , sweets and snacks like besan pakoras..

Wheat

  • Information -> A staple grain used for making flour , bread, roti and bakery items.
  • Production Season -> Rabi crop , sown in Oct.-Nov. and harvested in March-April.
  • Importance -> Rich in carbohydrates, fiber and protien. Essential for energy and body growth . Used to make flour,  bread , pasta , and many other food products .

Rice

  • Information -> A staple food grain widely consumed in India . Comes in different varieties like Basmati, Sona Masoori and Parboiled rice. 
  • Production Season -> Mainly a Kharif crop , sown in June – July and harvested in Nov. – December. 
  • Importance -> Used in daily meals , biryanis , idlis and desserts. Rich in carbohydrates , provides energy.

Tuvar Dal

  • Information -> Tuvar dal also called Arhar dal or Pigeon pea is a protein-rich pulse commonly used in Indian households for making dal . 
  • Production Season -> Kharif crop (sown in June – July , harvested in Dec.-Jan.). Requires warm climate and moderate rainfall. 
  • Importance -> Rich in protein , fiber, iron and essential minerals. A key part of the Indian diet, used in dishes like dal tadka , sambar and Khichdi .
